How the game works
Each day the app gives you one color of the day. Go outside, open the hunt screen, and point the crosshair at anything that looks close — a wall, a door, a leaf, a fruit, the sky. The meter shows how close you are. When it locks on, press the shutter and the color joins your palette with its name and your photo.
You don't have to be exact. The matcher is deliberately generous, because the point is noticing color, not measuring it.
The camera won't start
Check that Color Hunt has camera permission: Android Settings > Apps > Color Hunt > Permissions > Camera. If you declined the permission, you can still play — tap the photo button on the hunt screen and pick an image from your gallery instead.
The color it reads looks wrong
Phone cameras adjust white balance and exposure automatically, so a color can read warmer or cooler than it looks to your eye — especially indoors under artificial light, or in deep shade. Try moving into more even daylight, filling the crosshair with the color, and avoiding glare and reflections. Color Hunt is a game, not a color-measurement instrument.
I can't find today's color anywhere
That happens, and it's fine. Nothing is lost or punished — the color is simply waiting. You can also use Free hunt to catch any color you like, or a Themed hunt for a specific mood.
My streak reset
The streak counts days on which you caught the color of the day. Missing a day resets it. Your caught colors are never deleted when this happens.
Where are my photos stored? Can you recover them?
Everything is stored only on your device. We have no server and never receive your photos, so unfortunately we cannot recover anything that is lost — for example after uninstalling the app or clearing its storage. To keep a catch permanently, export a poster or card and save it to your gallery.
Does it cost anything?
No. Version 1.0 is completely free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
